Labour Treasurer fights an imaginary horror-movie election

James Simpson, Treasurer for the Mid Argyll, Islay and Kintyre branch of the Labour Party, has lightened the election mood in a hilarious letter published today (11th March 2011) in the Argyllshire Advertiser.

Writing about May’s Scottish Election 2011, Simpson says first: ‘Here in Argyll the sitting tenants are the Lib Dems’.

Em -  that was, ah… back before May 2007.

The current Argyll and Bute MSP, Jim Mather, took the seat in that election from the Lib Dem’s George Lyon, who has since gone to Brussels as his party’s Scottish MEP.

Then Mr Simpson conjures a blackly surreal image Salvador Dali would have envied: ‘This time their (the Lib Dems) prospective candidate, Alison Hay will be split with the Liberal George White’.

Ouch.

We’ve had the privilege of meeting Jimmy Simpson at some of the school closure demonstrations at Kilmory. He’s everything  anyone would expect of the best of the old Labour party and we’re probably mean to tease him.
